Most of our PhD graduates move into academic careers. A survey of our graduates from the past five years shows that 85% are now working in universities. The other 15% work in research centers such as RAND Corporation, or government agencies such as the National Institute of Justice and the Maryland Sentencing Commission. Most of the university placements are as tenure track faculty, but a few are full-time research personnel working in university-based research centers. Our students are working in the following universities: American, Arizona State, East Tennessee State, Florida Atlantic, George Mason, Indiana University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern, Towson State, Universities of California, Delaware, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Washington State.
Most of our MA graduates go on to our PhD program, but those who do not are employed in a variety of positions – mostly in research. Many are employed in Federal agencies such as the Bureau of Census, Bureau of Justice Statistics, U. S. Bankruptcy Court, and the Department of Justice. Some are employed in the Military Services. Others are in research divisions in the Police Foundation or the Bureau of Governmental Research here on campus. At least one of our graduates works for a law firm. |
