An Independent Study gives a student the opportunity to work on original research, one-on-one with a professor in the Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) Department, for the duration of a semester. Throughout the semester, the student meets with the professor, develops a research topic, completes a research paper and presents his or her findings to the professor. Students arrange Independent Studies directly with a CCJS faculty member. Once the Independent Study has been arranged and prior to the semester beginning, the student must complete the Independent Study Contract with the CCJS faculty member and submit the contract to CCJS Advising for approval.
