Thursday, December 13, 2012, forensicweek.com show host, Professor Tom Mauriello, featured forensic pathologist and medical examiner, Dr. Priya Banerjee, on the show as his special guest.  What was really special was that Dr. Banerjee is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park.  Dr. Banerjee majored in Molecular Biology and Genetics while minoring in Criminology & Criminal Justice (CCJS).  She was a former student of Professor Mauriello’s Criminalistics class in 2000.

Professor Mauriello and Dr. Banerjee discussed the role of the medical examiner during an unusual or unexpected death and how the medical examiner assists the police investigator evaluation of physical evidence associated with the circumstances of the death.  Dr. Banerjee will be a repeat guest of the show discussing other topics related to forensic pathology and death investigation.
