This January Dr. Jean McGloin spoke at the Network Perspectives in Criminology and Criminal Justice Conference at the Arizona State University.  Dr. McGloin's presentation was titled "A Social Network Approach to Studying Crime: Added Value or Blind Section?"  This talk discussed the benefits of social network studies of crime and deviance and whether they were outweighed by the potential collateral risks.  In doing so, she integrated examples from her own work on deviant peer influence, street gangs, and co-offending.
